VALHALLA, N.Y., February 8, 2018 – Paced by
Gian Batista and
Taffari Jarvis, Monroe Express men's basketball shot 42.5 percent from the floor, but it wasn't enough, as the Express fell to Westchester Community College, 108-74, dropping to 10-13 on the season.
The Express fell behind early, trailing by 26 at halftime and never recovered, getting outscored by eight in the second half to complete a 108-74 victory for the Vikings.
Batista led the Express with 17 and Jarvis added 14, while
Ghetty Allui and
Louis Florimon also tallied double figures with 11 and 10 points apiece.
Jarvis also paced the Express on the glass with eight rebounds, and also added five assists and two steals.
The Mustangs are back in action on Thursday, Feb. 15 when they take on No. 10 Nassau Community College at 8 p.m. at the Monroe Athletic Complex in New Rochelle, N.Y.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of Monroe's Bronx campus has six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning with their inaugural seasons in the fall of 2017.
