NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., February 10, 2018 –
Briyanna Graham tallied her fifth-career double-double, but the Monroe Express women's basketball team fell to Harford Community College, 95-43, on Saturday at the Monroe Athletic Complex, dropping to 6-13 on the season.
The Fighting Owls opened the game on a 5-0 run and never looked back, taking a 25-5 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Express got things going in the second quarter, shooting 40 percent from the field and 36.4 percent beyond the arc, but still trailed at the halftime break, 52-23.
However, Harford pulled away in the second half, and took home a 95-43 victory.
Graham recorded her fifth double-double of the season, scoring 15 points to go along with 10 rebounds, five steals and three steals.
Tatyana Forde joined Graham in double figures with 12 points, while
Frances Morales tallied 8 points and 7 assists.
The Express are back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 15 when they take on Nassau Community College at 6 p.m. at the Monroe Athletic Complex.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of Monroe's Bronx campus has six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning with their inaugural seasons in the fall of 2017.
