GARDEN CITY, N.Y., October 9, 2018 – Monroe Express women's soccer dropped a Region XV match to Nassau Community College, 11-0, on Tuesday to move to 2-5 (2-4 Region XV) on the season.
Nataly Ramirez got the Lions on the scoreboard early against the Express, and Nassau quickly pulled away, taking a 7-0 lead into the halftime break, and adding four goals in the second half to earn a 11-0 victory.
Joanne Chavez led the way for the Express with a shot, while
Julia Hermoso made five saves in goal.
The Express will look to get back on track when they head to New York, N.Y. to wrap up the 2018 regular season on Saturday, October 13 against the Fashion Institute of Technology.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of Monroe's Bronx campus has six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning with their inaugural seasons in the fall of 2017.
