POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y., October 18, 2018 – Monroe Express women's volleyball fell, 3-0, to Dutchess Community College in their final road match of the 2018-19 regular season, dropping to 2-15 (2-14 Region XV) on the season.
Dutchess took the match over the Express in straight-sets, winning the first set by the score of 25-15, the second, 25-10 and the third, 25-14 to earn the victory.
Dennyfer Hernandez led the Express with three kills, four digs and a service ace, while
Dawn Franklin added five kills and three blocks.
Rachel Arias led the Express in assists with 11 for the 16th time this season, while
Liz Moralez led the Express with six digs.
The Express are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 20 when they return to Roberto Clemente State Park for their final home matches of the season, taking on the Borough of Mahattan Community College at 12 p.m. and the Fashion Institute of Technology at 1:15 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, and the newly added club men's volleyball team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
