SUFFERN, N.Y., October 11, 2018 – Monroe Express women's volleyball fell in straight-sets to Rockland Community College, 3-0, on Thursday. With the loss, the Express drop to 1-12 (1-11 Region XV) on the season.
 
The Hawks took the first set, 25-13, before pulling ahead, 2-0, with a 25-15 second-set victory. Rockland then took the third set, 25-14, to win the match and pick up a straight-sets victory.
 
Dennyfer Hernandez led the way for the Express with four kills, three aces and five digs, while Jessica Gonzalez added three kills and a team-high 13 digs.
 
The Express are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 13 when they head to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. for a Region XV double-dual where they'll face Bronx Community College and Hostos Community College.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, and the newly added club men's volleyball team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
