Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Monroe Express Men’s Basketball Edged by 10th-ranked Nassau

GARDEN CITY, N.Y., December 7, 2017 – Though the Monroe Express men's basketball team outscored Nassau Community College by four in the second half, the Express fell in a closely-contested road tilt against the 10th-ranked Lions, 85-76 on Thursday.

The Express headed into the halftime break down by 13, 50-37, and though they rallied back to outscore Nassau, 39-35, in the second half, Monroe couldn't overcome the 13-point halftime deficit and fell, 85-76.

Ghetty Allui recorded his second-straight double-double, leading the Express with a season-high 21 points to go along with 12 rebounds. Gian Batista joined Allui in double-figures with 16 points and 7 rebounds, scoring in 10-plus for the eighth consecutive game.

Monroe shot 41.7 percent from the floor, and 41.2 percent from deep, but the 10th-ranked Lions just proved to be too much in the end for the Express.

With the loss, the Express drop to 2-8 on the season.

The Express are back in action when they take on the Monroe College Mustangs in an intercampus matchup as part of the Monroe College Roundball Classic on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 5 p.m. at the Monroe Athletic Complex in New Rochelle, N.Y.
