BRONX, N.Y., October 7, 2017 – The Monroe Express women's volleyball team fell in straight-sets to Bronx Community College, 3-0 Saturday at American Turners Arena, falling to 0-9 on the season.
The Broncos topped the Express, 25-14 in the first set to take a 1-0 lead. A 25-16 set win for the Bronx in set two made it 2-0, before the Broncos closed out the victory with another 25-16 third set win.
Dawn Franklin led the Express with three kills, three service aces and 6.5 points, while
Enaly De La Rosa added four digs to lead the team.
The Express continue their season with their first game at Roberto Clemente State Park on Wednesday, Oct. 11 against Sullivan Community College at 7:00 PM.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, will have six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning in the fall of 2017.
