Newman enters her first season with the Monroe Express, joining the program for the 2018 season.
Newman joins the Express with our four years of experience coaching soccer throughout the New York area. Most recently, she served as the head coach of the girls' varsity soccer team at The Spence School in New York, N.Y. Newman is also the founder and director of Yanique's Football Clinic, a soccer clinic for underserved youth in her hometown of Kingstown, Jamaica.

Prior to joining The Spence School, she served as the assistant coach at her alma mater, CCNY, for one season.

A 2015 graduate of CCNY, Newman finished her career with the Beavers as one of the top players in program history. The 2014 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Player of the Year, Newman finished second in the NCAA in goals per game (2.0), and ninth in total goals (28).

Newman also earned Eastern College Athletic Conference First-Team Honors in 2013, and was a CUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year Honorable Mention in 2015. Newman holds three program records for CCNY, goals scored in a game (6), season (28) and career (56).

While finishing up her degree at CCNY, Newman began her coaching career as the head counselor and head coach at Park Slope Day Camp/Sonic Soccer: Sports Academy from 2014 to 2016. Newman graduated with a degree in psychology from CCNY in 2015 and is currently finishing up her masters in Sports Management at Brooklyn College.Â

Newman is also a certified personal trainer, having worked in that capacity for the Park Slope Armory YMCA and CCNY over the past three years.
