Coach Paul “Ptah” Bowen enters his second year as Assistant Coach with the Express women's basketball program. He joins the Express with over 20 years of experience.

Bowen was employed with the Sorrentino Recreation Center for seven years, during which time he set up several basketball programs. His girls’ basketball programs were said to be one of the best in the city, from which 80-90% of the athletes were admitted to college with scholarships.

In addition to the programs started at the center, in 1993 Coach Ptah also co-founded the New York Sky Riders, currently a very successful AAU program for young student athletes.

Bowen resided in Macon, Ga. for fourteen years. While in Georgia, Bowen served an assistant coach at the pro level. He assisted Tree Roland and West Mathews for two years in the ABA Pro Development League collaborating with the coaching staff in all areas of game preparation and player development for the Macon Blazers. He was also employed with the parks and recreation department, where he coached for three years.

Bowen currently resides in New York. At the high school level, Coach Phat serves as an assistant coach he is an assistant coach for the Varsity boys’ basketball and the head coach of the JV boys’ basketball team at Far Rockaway Educational Campus. He assists with game preparation, athletic development in addition to academic development and college preparation.
