Hedrys Palencia joined the Monroe - Bronx men's soccer coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach in August of 2024.
In Palencia's first season on the coaching staff in 2024, he helped the Express earn a 9-4-3 record, a No. 6 national ranking, and the third seed in the Region 15 Tournament with an 8-2-2 record against regional opponents. He coached Chrismonor Eugene who was named the NJCAA Division III Offensive Player of the Week and was selected to the All-Region 15 first team. Xcaret Gonzalez and Jonathan Lima landed on the All-Region first team and second team, respectively.
No stranger to Monroe, Palencia was a student-athlete on the Express men's soccer team during the 2021 season. He was a defender who helped lead the Express to a berth in the semifinal round of the Region 15 Championships that year.
Palencia served as coach for the East Hampton Soccer Club from 2022 until 2024. While at East Hampton, he taught his players all the aspects of the game of soccer through the fundamentals of offense and defense. He also recruited players to the team. Palencia developed and evaluated the performance of all the players and supervised all of the practices.
In addition to his coaching duties for the Express, Palencia is also a CrossFit coach at the Gym of Southampton, a position he has held since 2023.
A resident of East Hampton, N.Y., Palencia earned his associate degree in business administration from Monroe - Bronx in 2022.
