Mike Tuitt joined the Monroe Express men's basketball program as an assistant coach prior to the start of the 2020-21 season. He joined the Express following three seasons as an assistant coach for the Monroe Mustangs in New Rochelle. Tuitt spent two seasons with the Mustangs' women's basketball program, before joining the men's basketball program for a season in 2015-16.
Under Tuitt's leadership, the Express won both the Region 15 and Northeast District Championships and earned an automatic bid into the NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball National Tournament during the 2021-22 season. Overall, he made four trips to the Region 15 Semifinals and two appearances in the Region 15 Championship Game. Monroe is 83-44 overall during his tenure.
A graduate of Hampton University, Tuitt played one season for the Monroe Mustangs, helping them to a District Championship in 2009, before finishing his collegiate career with the Pirates. Tuitt was also named the Freshman of the Year in his one season with the Mustangs, while the Pirates won the MEAC and made the NCAA Tournament his senior season.
Prior to joining the Mustangs, Tuitt was a standout at Samuel Gompers Industrial High School in The Bronx, earning First-Team All-PSAL honors. He transferred to American Christian Prep to finish out his career, where he, along with Indiana Pacers' forward Tyreke Evans led the Patriots to a National Championship.
Tuitt earned his bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Hampton in 2011.
