NEW YORK – Region 15 announced the 2026 Men's Volleyball All-Region team on Saturday and Monroe University – Bronx is heavily represented. Darren Lopez was selected to the All-Region first team, while Steven Francis Ouellet earned All-Region second-team honors. Luis Vasquez was bestowed Region 15 All-Sportsmanship team recognition.

The three honorees helped Monroe earn a 17-13 record for the year and a 6-4 mark in Region 15 play. The Express won a playoff match and earned a spot in the regional semifinals for the second straight year. Monroe – Bronx won multiple matches against nationally ranked opponents and claimed several sets against the top teams in the country.

Lopez earned his second straight All-Region honor. He produced double figures in kills 11 times this season and notched 10 digs in a match three times in 2026. The sophomore standout was named the Region 15 Athlete of the Month for February and then received Region 15 Athlete of the Month Honorable Mention recognition for March. His 2.64 kills per set ranked him No. 3 in Region 15.

Ouellet generated double figures in digs four times this year and compiled 47 blocks total. The first-year outside hitter also propelled the Express on the attack. He slammed 14 kills to help nationally ranked No. 8 Monroe – Bronx earn a crucial Region 15 victory over No. 9 Monroe University – New Rochelle, 3-1, back on March 21.

Vasquez has showed great leadership for the Express during his two seasons with the team. He played in 27 matches and generated 63 digs during his sophomore campaign.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
