BRONX – The Monroe University – Bronx women's volleyball team will open up Region 15 play with its home opener against Kingsborough Community College, at Monsignor Scanlan Gymnasium, on Thursday evening. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.

The defending Region 15 and North Atlantic A District Champions, the Express, are 2-3 to start the year. They have been led by rookie outside hitter Aleishka Diaz who is averaging 1.52 kills and 1.76 digs per set, plus she has scored 18 service aces, this season.
 
The Wave are 1-1 to start the year, splitting their two matches against LaGuardia Community College. Sophomore Kyrah Allison is slamming home 2.38 kills and picking up 1.63 digs per stanza for Kingsborough so far in 2024.
 
The Express are 5-2 all-time against the Wave, including a victory in the first round of the 2023 Region 15 Championships on their way to capturing the regional and district titles. 
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
