BRONX – The nationally ranked No. 8 Monroe University – Bronx women's volleyball team will open the 2024 season with a weekend trip to Upstate, N.Y. for three matches in two days.
On Friday, the Express will kick off the season with a match at Broome Community College, at Baldwin Gymnasium in Binghamton, N.Y, beginning at 4:30 p.m. There will be live stats for the match which can be accessed at

On Saturday, it will be a battle of nationally ranked teams as the Express will duel with nationally ranked No. 11, and host, Finger Lakes Community College at Putt Moore Gymnasium in Canandaigua, N.Y. at 10:00 a.m. Later that day, in the same gym, Monroe will take on Genesee Community College at 1:30 p.m. Finger Lakes will provide
live streaming video and
live stats for the Express vs. Lakers contest. Live stats will be provided for the Monroe vs. Genesee match which can be accessed

Monroe – Bronx had a very successful 2023 season, winning both the Region 15 and North Atlantic District A Championships. The Express were victorious in the opening round of the NJCAA Division III Women's Volleyball National Tournament over nationally ranked No. 12 Northampton Community College.

The Express have five returners from last year's championship team led by sophomore libero
Yasmel Molina, second-year middle blocker
Chelsea Nolasco, and sophomore middle blocker
Nisa Llanos. Nine newcomers will join the team this year, highlighted by rookie outside hitter
Gabriela De La Rosa.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
