BRONX - The Monroe University - Bronx women's volleyball team will return to its home court on Thursday, October 10, for a highly anticipated matchup against its Region 15 rival, Nassau Community College, at Monsignor Scanlan Gymnasium. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., and fans are encouraged to pack the stands for what promises to be an intense battle between two great teams. It's Breast Cancer Awareness Night and fans are invited to wear pink. Free breast cancer awareness wristbands will be given out. Join us for a night of exciting volleyball and an important cause—together, we can make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.

On the court, the Express are riding an eight-match winning streak (10-3 overall and 6-0 in Region 15 play) and hope to continue their momentum. Leading the charge is freshman outside hitter Gabriela De La Rosa, who is averaging 2.66 points per set and has recorded 91 kills so far this season. Rookie setter Julia Ramos has also been instrumental, tallying 101 assists and serving up an impressive 1.09 service aces per set. Freshman outside hitter Aleishka Diaz is slamming home 1.84 kills per set and producing 2.20 digs per stanza.
The Lions of Nassau Community College are equally formidable, currently on a nine-match winning streak (9-2 overall and 7-0 in Region 15 play). Sophomore outside hitter Sarah Kollarik has been a standout player, averaging 3.22 kills per set and racking up 112.0 points this season. Defensively, rookie libero Allison Salinas leads the way with 120 digs. Freshman middle blocker Hannah Clarke is generating 2.28 kills per set this season.
With both teams undefeated in regional play, sole possession of first place is up for grabs. These two teams will meet again on Saturday afternoon, October 12, this time on the campus of Nassau Community College for a noon start.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe University marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
