No. 4 Express Women's Volleyball to Compete in Region 15 Semifinals and Potentially the Championship Match on Saturday, October 28

BRONX – Saturday, October 28, will be a big day for nationally ranked No. 4 and top-seeded Monroe College – Bronx women's volleyball as the Express will battle fourth-seeded Orange County Community College, in the semifinal round of the Region 15 Tournament, at Rockland Community College. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m.
 
If Monroe – Bronx (20-1) defeats Orange County (11-9), then they will advance to the Region 15 Championship Match against the winner of the other semifinal match between No. 2-seed Dutchess Community College and third-seeded Queensborough Community College at around 2:00 p.m.

Note: The two Region 15 teams who win their semifinal matches and advance to the championship match will clinch automatic bids into the NJCAA Division III Women's Volleyball National Tournament. 
 
Earlier this season, Monroe – Bronx won its head-to-head meeting over Orange County in straight sets, on the campus of Dutchess Community College, back on October 21.
 
Five days later, Monroe – Bronx won its regional quarterfinal match over No. 8-seed Kingsborough Community College, 3-0, at Monroe Athletic Complex. That same night, Orange County topped No. 5-seed Fashion Institute of Technology, 3-1, on the campus of Orange County Community College.
 
Leading the way for the Express this year has been sophomore outside hitter Lisanel Rodriguez who was named the Region 15 Player of the Year earlier this week.  She is scoring 4.52 points per set, slamming home 3.46 kills per game, and is anchoring the defense with 3.05 digs per stanza.  
 
Second-year setter Luisanni Rodriguez has been a complete player for Monroe - Bronx this season. The 2023 Region 15 Setter of the Year is averaging 6.94 assists per set and 2.25 digs per frame and has 11 total blocks this year. 
 
Sophomore libero Valery Nunez earned a spot on the All-Region 15 second team this season. She has been a staple on the defensive side for the Express, averaging 5.02 digs per set. 
 
The Colts have been led by freshman middle blocker Gabriella Dandrade who is slamming home 1.73 kills per set. Sophomore libero Maggie Goodenough is anchoring the defense with 5.58 digs per stanza.
 
Monroe – Bronx is 5-5 all-time against Orange County.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
