No. 6 Express Women's Volleyball to Close Out Regular Season With Key Region 15 Matches Against Orange County and Dutchess on Saturday, October 21

BRONX – The nationally ranked No. 6 Monroe College – Bronx women's volleyball team will close out the regular season with critical Region 15 matches, on the campus of Dutchess Community College, on Saturday, October 21. The Express will battle Orange County Community College at 12:00 p.m., and then take on host-Dutchess, who is ranked No. 10 in the country, at approximately 2:00 p.m.
 
Dutchess will battle Nassau Community College, earlier in the day, at noon. No matter what the result of the Express' and Falcons' earlier matches will be, Monroe – Bronx's contest against Dutchess will be the battle for the No. 1 seed where the winner will enter the upcoming Region 15 Championships as the top overall seed. Both the Express and Falcons are undefeated against regional opponents at 12-0.

The Express (17-1, 12-0 Region 15) have won 13 straight matches and are coming off a statement victory in straight sets over Queensborough Community College, at Monsignor Scanlan Gymnasium, back on Thursday evening, October 19.
 
Leading the way for the Express this season has been sophomore outside hitter Lisanel Rodriguez who is scoring 4.43 points per set, slamming home 3.33 kills per stanza, has nailed 1.04 service aces, per game, and produced 2.93 digs per set. Second-year setter Luisanni Rodriguez is generating 6.78 assists per frame and 2.11 digs per game. Classmate Valery Nunez has been anchoring the defense with 4.67 digs per set. Sophomore outside hitter Selena Mitchell is slamming home 1.76 kills per set and 1.43 digs per frame.
 
Orange County (8-7, 7-5 Region 15) is coming off a victory over Borough of Manhattan Community College in straight sets back on Sunday, October 15. The Colts have been led by freshman middle blocker Gabriella Dandrade who is slamming home 1.73 kills per set. Sophomore libero Maggie Goodenough is anchoring the defense with 5.21 digs per stanza.
 
For the defending Region 15 Champion Dutchess Falcons (19-3, 12-0 Region 15), sophomore outside hitter Lauren Siegel is leading the way with 2.07 kills and 3.49 digs per game. Sophomore setter Nicole Spero has produced 4.08 assists and 1.38 digs per stanza, while rookie defensive specialist Franchelis Guzman has stabilized the defense with 3.77 digs per set. 
 
Monroe – Bronx is 4-5 all-time against Orange County and 2-8 all-time against Dutchess.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
