No. 10 Express Women's Volleyball to Take On Queensborough in Battle of Undefeated Region 15 Teams on Tuesday, October 3

BRONX - The nationally ranked No. 10 Monroe College - Bronx women's volleyball team will have a big test on Tuesday, October 3, as the Express will take on Queensborough Community College. The matchup between the pair of undefeated teams in Region 15 play will begin at 8:00 p.m. at RFK Gymnasium.

Monroe - Bronx (11-1, 6-0 Region 15) has earned regional wins over Kingsborough Community College, Hostos Community College, Bronx Community College, Nassau Community College, Rockland Community College, and Westchester Community College. This year in overall play, the Express have won 32 out of 35 sets played.

Queensborough (7-1, 6-0 Region 15) has claimed its victories in Region 15 play over Nassau, Hostos, Fashion Institute of Technology, Borough of Manhattan Community College, Bronx, and Kingsborough.

Leading the way for the Express this year has been sophomore outside hitter Lisanel Rodriguez, who was named the NJCAA Division III Women's Volleyball National Offensive Player of the Week, this past Wednesday. She is scoring 4.26 points per set, slamming home 2.97 kills per stanza, averaging 1.20 service aces per set, and recording 2.49 digs per frame so far this season. Second-year libero Valery Nunez has made a big impact on the defensive end with 3.89 digs per set. Sophomore setter Luisanni Rodriguez is having a great all-around year for the Express with 5.91 assists per frame, 1.96 points per game, and 2.03 digs per stanza.

For the Tigers, rookie outside hitter Michelle Lui is averaging 2.48 kills per set and 2.40 digs per game. Freshman libero Cynthia Saravia Reyes has anchored the defense with 5.57 digs per set, while first-year setter Isabel Torres has been the playmaker with 4.31 assists per stanza. 

Monroe - Bronx is 2-7 all-time against Queensborough, with the two wins coming last season, including a five-set thriller in the Region 15 Semifinals on October 22, 2022.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
