Monroe Express Women’s Volleyball Place 12th in 2022 National Tournament

The Express conclude their season after facing the HACC Hawks in the 2022 National Championship tournament

ROCHESTER, MN – Monroe Express women's volleyball concluded their historic season and run in the 2022 NJCAA DIII women's volleyball National Championship tournament Friday afternoon after falling to the Harrisburg Area Community College Hawks in three sets (17-25, 20-25, 23-25). The Express had their most successful season to date, reaching the final round of Region 15 tournament, winning the Northeast B District Championship and reaching the aforementioned national tournament.

The Express got off to a good start in the first set with a 4-2 lead off a Luisanni Rodriguez service ace. They would proceed to fall behind after a quick 8-1 Harrisburg run evaporated their early lead. Monroe could not establish any momentum, as the Hawks claimed the period. Monroe would find themselves in the driver's seat again with a 16-15 lead in the second stanza after a Soumayatou Yaogo kill. Harrisburg would proceed to score the last nine of the last 13 points of the period to push their lead to 2-0.

In the decisive set, the Express would show great effort, matching every point until the end. The Hawks led 15-19 on a Kyla Kolivoski kill, but the Express were right behind bringing the advantage down to one point by a Jaylinne West score. Unfortunately, the set would come to an end after a Lisanel Rodrgiuez attack error cemented the 3-0 final.
Leading the way for the Express, Lisanel Rodriguez registered 15 kills, 16 digs and one block. Luisanni pitched in 21 assists and 12 digs. Valery Nunez added 14 digs.

The Express conclude their season after a 12th place finish in the 2022 NJCAA DIII National Championship tournament.
