POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Despite another stellar offensive output by Lisanel Rodriguez, Monroe-Bronx women's volleyball concluded their inspiring regular season with a 3-1 setback (25-22, 23-25, 19-25, 23-25) to the Dutchess Community College Falcons in Poughkeepsie, NY. 

The Express were unable to capitalize on their opening set win, dropping the next three sets in close fashion. In an affair that could go either way, Monroe put up a valiant effort that came up short in the end to settle the 3-1 final. Lisanel Rodriguez put up a heroic statline on both ends of the court with 33 points, 29 kills on 61 attempts,  24 digs and four service aces. Soumayatou Yaogo was a great running mate with 12.5 points, 9 kills and 3.5 blocks. Xing Stewart-Greer posted 10.5 points, four kills, 4.5 blocks, and two service aces. Luisanni Rodriguez had a monster 49 assists, 16 digs, and 5.5 blocks while Valery Nunez registered 24 digs and four service aces.

For the Falcons, Kathleen Brennan logged 22 points, 19 kills, 21 digs, two assists, two service aces and one block. Leah Vitiello followed with 19 points, 18 kills on 44 attempts, 31 digs, one assist and one service ace. 

Despite the loss, the Express almost led in every statistical category for the contest with 82 points, 55 assists, 54 kills, 18 blocks and 10 service aces. Dutchess came ahead in digs with 102. 

The Express host the Region 15 Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament Quarterfinals from the Monroe Athletic Complex on Thursday (Oct. 20). An opponent and start time will be announced in the coming days.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 14 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
