New Rochelle, N.Y., December 4, 2021 - The Monroe Express JV men's basketball team lost for the first time this season at home to Bryant and Stratton, 73-67, on Saturday evening at the Monroe Athletic Complex. The loss drops the Express to 3-1 while Bryant and Stratton improves to 2-3.
Freshman Chamarri Baskerville (Queens, New York) posted a career-high 32 points on a career-best 12-for-25 from the field, while classmate Audley Falconer (Bronx, New York) drained 14 points on the evening. Underclassman Darius Rivers (Bronx, New York) also missed a double-double bringing down a game-high 12 rebounds and scoring nine points, while classmate Leshawn Bryant (Brooklyn, New York) registered a team-high four assists and two steals.
After three lead changes and two ties to begin the first half, Jalon Dawkins knocked down a three-pointer to give the Bobcats the lead 10-6 at 14:56, then Baskerville recorded five consecutive points, a layup and a go-ahead three-pointer at 13:21 to make it 11-10. After Mikhir Jackson jumper gave Bryant and Stratton back the lead 12-11 at 13:10, the Bobcats built it into a double-digit advantage 34-23 on a Montrell Jackson layup at 3:57 and increased it to its biggest mark 14, 39-25 with 17 seconds on a Dean Locksley three-pointer to go into halftime.
The Express gave a valiant response over the first 13:23 of the second half putting together a 17-6 run to get a close as two, 45-42 on a Baskerville three-pointer but was as close as they would come. The Bobcats increased their lead to double digits, including its biggest of the evening 15, 63-48 at 7:18 on a layup, never looking back as they rolled to a 73-67 victory.
For Bryant and Stratton, four players scored in double-figures, with Jalon Dawkins and Dean Lockley leading the way with 13 points, while Mikhir Jackson and Montrell Jackson chipped in with 12 points each. Jackson also snatched a game-high four steals, and Destin Lee hauled down a team-high eight boards.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 36 teams competing across nine sports.
