Siddiq McNair Comes Off The Bench To Score A Career-High 22 Points In Express Men's Basketball Victory On The Road Against Dutchess C.C.

Poughkeepsie, N.Y., November 23, 2021 – After a four-day layoff, the Monroe Express Men's Basketball squad extended their winning streak to three with a dominant 89-75 victory over Regional opponent Dutchess C.C. on Tuesday night at Falcon Hall Gymnasium. Monroe-Bronx improves to 4-1 (3-1 Region XV) while the Falcons fall to 4-4 (3-4 Region XV).

Two Express players reached the 20-point plateau as freshman Siddiq McNair (Philadelphia, Pennslyvania) came off the bench to lead the offense with a game and career-high 22 points while also hauling down a team and career-best 11 rebounds. McNair also snagged a team-high four steals while classmate Jabnel Cordero (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico) recorded his team-best second 20 point performance on the year while draining a team-high four three-pointers and grabbing five boards. Underclassman Jasigha Barnes (Baldwin, New York) also tied a career-high, dishing out eight assists which was a game-high while contributing 14 points. Sophomore Onterio Miller (Bronx, New York) chipped in with 10 points.

The Express dominated the boards by a 45-38 margin and scored 23 points off 18 Dutchess C.C. turnovers.

Both teams went blow for blow in the early stages as they traded the lead four times and tied it up twice, 5-5 and 14-14. The Express grabbed all the momentum from that point on, using a 16-4 run to take a 10-point lead twice, 28-18 on a McNair three-point play off a steal, and 30-20 on a McNair tip-in of a Miller baseline layup. The Falcons responded to get the deficit down to six twice, 31-26 and 33-27, before Monroe-Bronx finished on a 14-0 run to go into halftime up 47-27.

The Express put the exclamation on this contest immediately at the beginning of the second half building their lead to 21, 51-30, the largest of the game, never looking back en route to an 89-75 victory.

Dutchess Community College had four players finish in double-figures led offensively by Charles Brown, who registered a double-double with a team-high 20 points and game-high 13 rebounds. Zacchaeus Barnes had 13 points, and Tristan Cannady had 12 points while also tying a team-high alongside Brown with two steals. Kai Woods swatted a game-high three shots and scored 10 points while Trayvon Daniel dished out a team-best four assists.
