POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y., September 10, 2019 – The Monroe College Express women's volleyball team is off to a winning streak to start the 2019 campaign, as the Express defeated Dutchess Community College, 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-10), Tuesday evening on the road. The Express are now 2-0 to start the year against a pair of Region XV opponents, while the Falcons fall to 0-1 to start their season.
Irianna Castillo was fantastic in the win with an impressive 15 kills and .619 hitting percentage. She also served up three aces and had a block.
Dennyfer Hernandez and
Julie Trowers each had four kills.
Rachel Arias led with nine assists and five aces.
As a team, the Express hit .480 in the match. They improved in each set, hitting .562 in the final frame to put the Falcons away.
The Express take the rest of the week off before getting back to work next Tuesday, Sept. 17, in a Region XV match against Westchester Community College in Valhalla, N.Y.. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 12 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
