POMONA, N.Y., April 3, 2019 – The Monroe Express JV baseball team fell to Saint Thomas Aquinas Club, 24-6, on Wednesday at Palisades Credit Union Park, dropping to 0-5 on the season.

Meanwhile, the Express notched a run in the top of the second to take the lead.
Daniel Coradin walked to lead off the frame, stole second, advanced to third on
Jasson Medina's groundout and scored on
Brayan Lara's single to center, giving Monroe a 1-0 lead.
The Express added another run in the top of the third on Dominguez' sacrifice fly, scoring
Rafael Hidalgo from third. Hidalgo led off the third with a triple and scored to give the Express a 2-0 lead.
But after the Express went scoreless in the top of the fourth, STAC Club got on the scoreboard and took the lead in the bottom of the fourth. The Spartans scored three runs on one hit, as Stephan Finkel's sacrifice fly scored Ray Amato from third to give STAC a 3-2 lead.
Monroe tied things up in the top of the fifth when Hidalgo scored on a wild pitch, and took a 4-3 lead on
Yony De Leon's RBI single. But the Spartans again had an answer in the bottom of the fifth.
STAC Club scored 21 runs on 11 hits in the bottom of the fifth to take a 24-4 lead. And though the Express scratched out a pair of runs on De Leon's RBI single and a wild pitch in the top of the seventh, the deficit proved to be too much, as the Spartans took home the 24-6 victory.
Medina (0-1) took the loss for Monroe, while John Paul (1-0) earned the win for STAC Club.
On the mound, Dominguez pitched three scoreless frames for the Express, allowing one hit while walking one and striking out four.
