BRONX, N.Y. - The Monore College Express women's volleyball team won its seventh-straight match, defeating crosstown rival Bronx Community College in three sets on the road.
The Express used a .500 hitting percentage in the first set to take the frame 25-10. Both teams played a tight second set, but the Express were able to use a late 7-3 run to edge out the Bronx CC, 25-21. A strong defensive outing in the third set that held the Broncos to a -.353 attack percentage propelled the Express to 25-16 set victory towards the match sweep,
Julie Trowers led the attack with 11 kills on .333 hitting percentage to pair with two blocks. Dennyfer Hernandez joined her in double-digit kills with 11.Â
Jeribeth Hodge registered a match-high 24 assists, four digs, and three aces while Smeritte Colon accumulated six digs, three aces, and two assists.
Rachel Arias netted three digs, three aces, and two assists while Doraly Caraballo added four digs in the win.
The Express returns to action at home for their 2019 homecoming match against conference foe Westchester Community College on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7:00 P.M.Â
