NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., October 8, 2019 – The Monroe College Express JV men's soccer team earned its first victory of season, defeating the Monroe College Mustangs JV men's soccer program on Tuesday, 2-1.
 
Sophomore Tyreek Jackson netted the first goal for the Express in the 23^rd minute to give an early 1-0 lead.
 
The Express extended their lead in 68^th minute when Mohsen Salem chipped in a shot on a free kick to double Monroe's lead, 2-0.
 
The Mustangs responded quickly, as Jay Wong buried a shot on a free kick opportunity to cut the Express's lead in half.
 
The Express were able to hold off the Mustangs in the stretch of the match to seal the victory.
 
Luis Anguiano earned the start in goal for the Express, coming out with seven saves in the win.
 
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 30 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has 11 varsity and junior varsity teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
